EasyShoe Speed - Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question that's not answered here? Please contact us for more information.

Q How is the EasyShoe Speed sized?

A The EasyShoe Speed comes in sizes that correspond to the widest part of the horse's hoof. Each shoe is 4mm different in size. Measure a horse’s hoof at the widest point.

Q Are the shoes Front and Hind Pattern specific?

A Yes. The EasyShoe Speed comes in front and hind patterns. The front and hind patterns allow for a better fit without modification. Hind patterns can also be used on narrow front hooves.

Q How long can the EasyShoe Speed stay on?

A The EasyShoe Speed can stay on for a full trim cycle (4-6+ weeks).

Q Can the EasyShoe Speed be reset?

A Yes. It is typical to get 1-2 resets per pair, sometimes more depending on the environment and the way the horse moves.

Q What kind of glue is used?

A  Acrylic or urethane glue. We recommend EasyShoe Bond Glue.

Q What tools do I need to apply the EasyShoe Speed?

A To apply the EasyShoe Speed, you will need acrylic or urethane glue, the corresponding glue dispensing gun, mixing tips, and plastic wrap. Additional tools may be needed for hoof preparation including a rasp, hoof buffy, butane torch, etc.

Q Can I nail the EasyShoe Speed?

A Yes. To nail the shoe, simply cut off the tabs.

Q Can studs be used on the EasyShoe Speed?

A Yes. The EasyShoe Speed Metal Trac has 4 threaded inserts for optional 3/8" studs.

Q Can I adjust the breakover?

A Yes. It's easy to rasp or grind away material for a custom breakover.

Q How can I customize the EasyShoe Speed?

A There are many ways the shoe can be customized for each horse. To increase heel flexibility, cut the small bridge between the keyhole design. To create an open frog shoe, you can cut out the entire frog support. This also allows you to shape the shoe (Metal and Metal Trac versions). Cut the cuffs off to nail the shoe. Leave the cuffs to glue the shoe.
